Savanna Eye Care & Dental Partnership History

Chapter 1. Eyes are the windows to the soul; a smile opens endless windows of possibilities.
This magical journey began in 2006 while Dr. Sandeep Suri and Dr. Aman Bhopal attended the University of Calgary. They were both working hard to complete their Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences programs.
A great friendship blossomed as they ventured deeper into the medical world. Before they knew it, these two friends had graduated and travelled to the United States to complete their respective 4-year doctorates.
Dr. Sandeep Suri studied Optometry in Boston, MA, and Dr. Aman Bhopal studied Dentistry in Claremont, CA.
Although these friends had gone their separate ways, fate had other plans to reunite these old friends when Dr. Sandeep Suri received a fortunate opportunity to move to California for a 3-month clinical rotation at the Veterans Affairs Long Beach Health Centre.
Dr. Sandeep Suri and Dr. Aman Bhopal were able to reconnect and discussed their views, hopes, and aspirations. Soon, a brilliant joint vision began to take shape, and the idea of a multi-disciplinary medical center of both their passions under one roof was born.
After what seemed to be endless hours of hard work, dedication, sleepless nights, two bright doctors emerged. The chapter of countless textbooks and exams had ended, and the chapter of how they would fulfill their common dream and make a difference commenced.
Chapter 2. A brighter smile and a clearer look into the future.
Our bright doctors came across a fantastic real estate opportunity in the highly multicultural North-East sector of Calgary. Before long, the dream of opening an optometry and dental practice under one roof had materialized, and Savanna Eye and Dental clinic came into existence.
Dr. Sandeep Suri and Dr. Aman Bhopal were both born and raised in the North-East Calgary area, an area representative of lower socioeconomic statuses and diverse ethnic backgrounds of all ages.
Our doctors had a clear understanding of patient demographics and the challenges lower-income families are faced with within their community. Challenges like increased prevalence of medical conditions and diseases, most of which relate to eyes and teeth.
Our doctors had identified a significant problem, and they had a solution that would bring opportunity and change to hundreds of deserving people from infants to seniors.
Both Dr. Sandeep Suri and Dr. Aman Bhopal are multilingual and speak fluent English, Punjabi, Hindi, and Urdu. These languages are dominant within the populations of North-East Calgary, therefore, resulting in clearer communication between doctors and patients.
